People for the Protection of Animal Welfare [PPAW]
On August 6, 2004, six people and a dog were bludgeoned to death in Deltona, Fla., apparently in relation to the theft of an Xbox. Jonathan Gleason, the youngest human victim of this hideous bloodbath, was one of peta’s most dedicated Street Team members and was devoted to speaking up for animals. To do our part to preserve Jonathan’s memory, we’re calling for a day of action on Saturday, August 6. We are going out for Jonathan and doing something we know he’d be proud of!|
A 2004 graduate of Pine Ridge High School, Jonathan was an amazing activist who never missed an opportunity to educate his friends, coworkers, and fellow students about the horrors of factory farming and the benefits of going vegetarian. He started an animal rights group at his school, attended Iams demos, and leafleted at KFC. After showing “Meet Your Meat” to his friends and family, Jonathan reported, “The best of all was when I showed it in one of my classes, and afterwards, someone raised their hand and asked me how they could become vegetarian too. I signed him up at GoVeg.com, and he has been meat-free ever since.”
With his infectious enthusiasm and passion for animal rights, Jonathan not only made changes in his own life to stop animal abuse, he also inspired others to get involved and make a difference. He dedicated his life to making the world a better place for all animals, so in his memory, PPAW [People for the Protection of Animal Welfare] will be protesting on August 6th at the KFC [10395 W Sample Rd, Coral Springs, 33065] from 12-2pm.
Activists will be holding signs and unleashing "The colonel's REAL secret recipe, Live scalding, painful debeaking, and crippled chickens". For more information check out www.KFCcruelty.com.
